An EXCITING opportunity has arisen to join a Leeds based Children’s Charity, headed up by an experienced team who are well known and recognised within the Yorkshire business and property sector for their charitable work! They are responsible for organising several of the regions largest and most prolific fundraising events and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Events to join the team.

 

This position will require a creative individual with extensive experience in Event Management in B2B Events delivery. You will need expert communication and leadership skills and be highly organised, energetic, enthusiastic and independently motivated. Moreover, you will have experience in managing multiple events, motivating others and working well with a wide variety of people across communities and groups.

 

As Head of Events, your duties will include:

  • Your role as Head of Events will have a focus on operations, focusing on the logistics and delivery of all fundraising events for charity, including some of the regions largest award ceremonies, flagship, social and networking events.
  • Leading a small team of Event Managers and Assistants to successfully deliver all fundraising events from start to finish.
  • Mentoring and training the events team to help them with their growth and development.
  • Creating and delivering on all fundraising event budgets and ensuring that they are kept up to date.
  • Multi-tasking across all events throughout the year to ensure all fundraising opportunities are being maximised and delivered to the highest possible standard.
  • Forward planning for events year after year to give the charity a clear picture of growth/increased delivery.
  • Working with the Programmes team and Marketing Manager to establish what funds are being raised for at each event.
  • Working with the Marketing Manager and external Production Team to storyboard appeal videos to be played at each fundraising event.
  • Taking a creative approach to fundraising initiatives at all events.
  • Constantly reviewing all fundraising events, taking a new and fresh approach to their delivery to ensure the charity continues to evolve and its events continue to be industry leading.
  • Managing all events, customer, and supplier experiences from the outset through to delivery.
  • Floor managing all fundraising events until appropriate to delegate this to Event Managers to aid them in their professional development – you will be responsible for the entire set up, delivery and de-rig, to include managing other team members and any volunteers when on site.
  • Being aware of the charity’s output to enable you to develop fundraising events appropriately, to incorporate any new charitable initiatives.
  • Working with the Marketing Manager and an external PR company to maximise press opportunities.
  • Ensuring that brand standards are met at all times.
  • Taking responsibility for all event ticket sales.
  • Working with the SMT to recruit and retain event sponsors.
  • Gathering quotes from event suppliers e.g. venues, printers, florists, etc.
  • The creation of financial documents including invoices and purchase orders.
  • Recruiting volunteers as needed to support at fundraising events.
  • Constantly being open to/coming up with new and exciting fundraising event ideas that will add value to the charity.

Person Specification:

 

  • A strong work ethic with a passion for helping children
  • A significant level of experience in the events industry
  • Marketing experience/knowledge
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Drive, ambition and a strong sense of initiative
  • A willingness to learn and take on additional responsibility
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel and Power Point)
  • A high attention to detail/strong proof-reading skills
  • A good level of spelling and grammar
  • Confident with internet research
  • Excellent customer service skills with a polite and helpful manner towards all stakeholders and colleagues
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds e.g. Committee members, colleagues, external suppliers, support staff at events etc.
  • Well organised
  • Reliable and well presented
  • Able to multi-task at all times and achieve key deadlines
  • Is a ‘team player’

 

This is a full time, permanent position paying a salary of up to £35k with an immediate start available!
