We are recruiting a H&S Coordinator for our Knaresborough based client on a part time, permanent basis.

This is a NEW role for the business, a position you could really make your own. Reporting into Operations you will be managing H&S for the wider business including manufacturing and production.

As Health and Safety Coordinator you will support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. The role ensures compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards, and promotes a safe working environment across the manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of site-wide health and safety policies and procedures including visuals in the warehouse and production areas.
  • Monitor and audit safety systems to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections; identify hazards and implement control measures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; report findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Deliver health and safety inductions and refresher training for new and existing staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, risk assessments, and training.
  • Collaborate with production and office teams to support safe systems of work and operational improvements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and contribute to management review meetings.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures including fire drills and first aid arrangements.
  • Liaise with external bodies (e.g., HSE inspectors, insurance auditors) as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
  • Experience with risk assessments, accident investigations, and health and safety audits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Confident in writing reports and presenting safety data.
  • Good IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, incident reporting software).
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.

Hours to be part time, circa 20/week, which can be disused on an individual basis, between Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm. Salary to be up to £35k FTE.

Own car needed due to location of the role.
